La petrolera francesa anunció la puesta en producción del yacimiento Vega Pléyade, ubicado a 20 kilómetros de la costa fueguina, al sur de la Bahía de San Sebastián. El proyecto tendrá un potencial de producción de 10 millones de metros cúbicos por día, es decir, unos 70.000 barriles de petróleo equivalente.

“Vega Pleyade es el segundo desarrollo que Total pone en marcha este año y contribuirá al incremento de nuestra producción en 2016 y en los años siguientes” dijo Arnaud Breuillac, Presidente de Exploración y Producción del Grupo Total. “Este proyecto consiste en el desarrollo de uno de los campos off shore más grandes de Argentina y el más austral del mundo. Este proyecto nos permitirá mantener nuestro nivel de producción operada desde Tierra del Fuego en aproximadamente 18 millones de metros cúbicos por día (130.000 barriles de petróleo equivalente por día) lo que evidencia nuestro compromiso a contribuir al abastecimiento de gas de la Argentina a largo plazo”.

El desarrollo de Vega Pléyade consistió en la construcción e instalación de una plataforma en el mar, en una zona con una profundidad de agua de 50 metros, que se conecta a través de un gasoducto submarino de 77 kilómetros a las plantas de tratamiento de gas de Rio Cullen y Cañadon Alfa también operadas por Total. La realización del proyecto demandó dos años y medio.

Vega Pleyade está localizado en la Cuenca Marina Austral 1 (CMA-1), concesión que es operada por Total con una participación de 37,5%, junto a sus socios Wintershall Energía (37,5%) y Panamerican Sur (25%).

If we would quit awarding people multi-million dollar payouts when they have a bad reaction to a medication, or when a doctor makes a minor mistake, we could actually afford Obamacare. If we limit jury awards in medical malpractice cases, we could actually afford to fund healthcare. Look at the general aviation industry. Tort reform is the only reason there are any companies out there that still build small aircraft.
